The Mystical Path

Rise up nimbly
and go on your strange journey
to the ocean of meaning
the stream knows
it can't stay on the mountain
leave and don't look away
from the sun as you go
in whose light
you're sometimes a crescent
sometimes still

I
  you
    he
      she
we in the garden of mystic
lovers. These are not
true
distinctions.

We are the mirror as well as the face in it.
We are the tasting the taste this minute of eternity
We are the pain and what cures the pain
We are the sweet cold water and the jar that pours

Jalaluddin Rumi
translated by Coleman Barks

Essence of the Weekend

"Being a mystic is not enough - we are also called to be prophets or 'mystics in action.'"
- Matthew Fox

"Seek the Direct Path as the Path to God without dogma or priests or gurus, the Path of direct self-empowerment and self-awakening in and under God in the heart of life. ...[W]hether you yet know it or not, you have been on this path since the day you were born. ...You will discover with wonder and delight why you are here and what you are here for."
- Andrew Harvey

"...the true person of faith is someone who knows that Reality is perceived by different peoples in different ways... If we dare to be true persons of faith, we can talk and teach, listen, and learn. If we dare to be true persons of faith, we can unite in our unknowing: doing justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with GOD and each other."
- Rabbi Shapiro

"The seed of belief unfurls in faith, branches out in experience, flowers in realization, and bears fruit in service."
- Pir Zia
